The Space Whisperer was commissioned to design and deliver the complete retail interior of La Chouquette, an artisan bakery and pâtisserie in Didsbury, Manchester. Our role encompassed architectural design, interior design, bespoke cabinetry, lighting design and full project management through to completion.
The design combines traditional French bakery character with contemporary detailing. A distinctive blue shopfront creates a strong street presence, while bespoke timber shelving, integrated lighting and carefully designed glass display counters showcase the artisan breads and pastries. Patterned floor tiles, a custom entrance mosaic and black-and-white bakery photography add warmth, texture and personality.
Beyond the customer-facing interiors, we also designed and coordinated the functional bakery spaces, ensuring the layout and detailing supported the practical demands of daily production and service.
