Victorian Home Renovation, Wilmslow – Westwood

This Victorian residence in Wilmslow, Cheshire was completely reimagined through a thoughtful, whole house interior transformation by The Space Whisperer. Over 18 months and four floors, the project redefines classic heritage architecture for contemporary family life, honouring the home’s original character while creating calm, beautifully connected spaces for living, working and gathering.

Led by Elena Lenzi Beswick, the design harmonises traditional proportions with a refined material palette, bespoke detailing and a light filled layout that feels both timeless and distinctly modern. The result was recognised in 2025 with shortlisting for two Northern Design Awards, reflecting the clarity of vision and quality of execution throughout the project.

The experience unfolds with a sense of quiet refinement from the moment of arrival, inviting natural flow between formal and informal spaces. Every area of the home was carefully considered and redesigned, including a bespoke home office, elegant reception rooms, a garden connected kitchen and a luminous orangery with a dedicated bar space.

Upstairs, the private areas were crafted as serene retreats. The master suite features customised dressing rooms and a tranquil ensuite, while additional bedrooms and a shared family bathroom support flexible family living. At the lowest level, a once under utilised cellar has been transformed into a lifestyle hub, featuring a temperature controlled wine room, dedicated cinema and fully equipped gym.

Throughout the home, bespoke joinery, thoughtful lighting and meticulous craftsmanship elevate each space without overpowering the original architectural soul of the house. This Wilmslow renovation reflects a calm, purposeful approach to design, rooted in heritage and perfectly attuned to contemporary life.
